Brisbane Tyres

Tyres are a boon to everyone. If it weren't for them, then all the long drives and rides with your beloved would have never been the same. Tyres make your journey comfortable through the small towns and cities where the rides can get a little bumpy due to uneven roads. And for a smooth, smooth journey, you need to make sure that the tyres you choose for the vehicle of your choice; bike or car has to be of a very high quality so that you can enjoy your ride or drive around town in comfort. Tyres are very useful and they prevent the wheel from wear and tear, reduce the fluctuations caused due to the uneven surfaces on the roads and also improve the handling and acceleration by providing a high-friction bond between your bike or car and the terrain you driving on or riding on. These days the tyres are made from rubber composites or synthetic rubber but some other materials like steel are also used to provide strength to the tyres.

History of Tyres...

Have you ever wondered how the tyre came about and took the world by storm? Well, wonder no more now, read on and find out for yourself.

Till the time when the modern tyre came about and was invented in stages in the 19th century, the tyres in those days made the journeys very uncomfortable and bumpy. Charles Goodyear was the inventor of vulcanization in 1844, a process used today to make cured rubber tyres. Then came John Boyd Dunlop who was a Scottish vet and is today known as the father of modern tyre, though he was not the very first one to come up with the idea of tyres.

Then came a fellow Scottish man named Robert William Thomson who was the inventor of the modern day pneumatic tyre, which came to be known as the Aerial Wheel. Later on Dunlop became partners with William Harvey du Cros and formed the company Dunlop Rubber Company so as to be able to produce his invention of the tyre. The invention became a hit instantly and the tyre was used for bicycles and later on for cars also. The radial tyre that is being used today by almost all the vehicles was invented by Michelin, which is a French company.
